Global rankings Despite the modest number of universities in Hong Kong, 5 of the eight state universities there made it into the QS ranking of the highest a hundred universities on the earth for 2021. The first of the 5, the University of Hong Kong, is ranked 22nd, and the final of the five, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, is ranked seventy fifth. Along with Hong Kong University of Science & Technology and Hong Kong City University, which took the second and fourth spots, respectively, within the QS ranking of the Top 50 underneath 50 in 2020, the latter was additionally rated eighth. In the category of the best young universities on the planet in 2019, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology got here in first place.
